Anneliza van der Schyff:
Certified ISR Instructor -
My name is Anneliza van der Schyff. I live in South Africa. I am a Certified Instructor with Infant Swimming Resource. I'm a mom of 3 kids and have 2 beautiful grandchildren. I graduated from Unisa with BCom Financial Management, but always played with the thought of rather working with children than live in a corporate world.
I first learned about ISR in 2007 and immediately knew this was what I wanted to do. I was amazed by how young children could learn how to save themselves from drowning after only a few hours of instruction. I fell in love with the program and the difference it makes for children all over the world. It also highlighted/made me aware of the need of swimming instruction in South Africa where children will actually learn how to survive an aquatic accident. Sadly South Africa is one of the leaders when it comes to drowning fatalities.
When my first granddaughter was born, it was a no-brainer. She needed these lessons. However, ISR was not available in South Africa yet, so we did traditional swim lessons with her. After several months of lessons, I was still not convinced that she would know what to do if she were to find herself in the middle of an aquatic accident with no one around to help her. I was waiting for ISR to come to South Africa, but realized that every day that goes by without that happening, my grand baby is at risk. I felt as if I had no choice but to take matters in my own hands and make it happen.
I wanted to join in ISR's mission: Not One More Child Drowns. I got certified as an ISR Instructor and I am also certified in First Aid and CPR. I am proud to provide lessons that will help your baby save his or her own life.
